(Detail) And Jesus Wept It took me two years after the attacks on September 11, 2001 to be able to finally make this piece.  A friend gave me a piece of aluminum that his company used as a liner for the compartment in which they make optical filters.  The different chemicals used to create the crystals end up "discoloring" the metal liner.  In person, it has an oil-on-water look to it, and the colors shift somewhat as the light changes.  This deeply brooding piece was just what I needed as the background for a memorial. The twin towers have been cut out from the aluminum, allowing an underlying piece of screening to show through.  A photograph of the New York skyline was collaged in place.  The text reads as follows: And Jesus wept... The name of the Lord is a strong tower.  Proverbs 18:10
