Tyger tyger burning bright
Tyger! Tyger! burning bright
(assemblage with altered book)

Inspired by William Blake's "Tyger, Tyger" found in his lyrical collection Songs of Experience (1794).

"Tyger! Tyger! burning bright
In the forest of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?"

Illustration used: Antique postcard of a tiger
Book used: Thoughts on Religion and Morality by James Eddy, 1927.
Highlighted text: "As an infant child, awakening in a dark night, full of affectionate instincts extends its little arms and gropes to find its mother, who is its all in all, so through the centuries has the human race groped to find its God; conscious that on some great being we each and all depend for life, and for all that makes life's value."
Additional text: "For by Him were all things created that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible...all things were created by Him, and for Him."  (Colossians 1:16)
Other materials: computer cd drive, rusted clamp and nail, seed bead work, wire, vintage beads, carnelian chips

I especially love one of the couplets later in Blake's poem:
"Did He smile His work to see?
Did He who made the Lamb make thee?"

The answer to both questions is "yes"...and He smiles to see you also.
