My name is Cyndi Lavin, and I design and create the works here on Why Not Art.  I am pleased to be able to share some of my obsessions with you.  Creating anything can be a mesmerizing business.  Before you know it, you've got a stack of art work and no dinner on the table.  But thankfully, my family is very patient ~ and very used to this.  They have always known that I have a tendency to overdo things a bit.  I take up running...and end up marathoning.  I go to color my hair...and end up with colors not normally found in nature.  My running buds and I decide to go on a little adventure...and we end up running across the Grand Canyon.  Just a little obsessive, I guess.  But I digress. Life can be fun.  Life can be a challenge.  But life is always a gift.  Some artists create from their pain, but I have always worked from my joy.  And joy is certainly one of the most precious gifts anyone can receive in life.  My joy comes not from my circumstances, although I will be the first to admit that I have been undeservedly blessed, but from my faith.  While you will certainly see themes of faith running through my work, I do not consider my pieces to be religious articles.  They are not intended to be the embodiment of any spiritual forces, but instead are simply a reflection of my love for my Creator. "For we are God’s workmanship*, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."  Ephesians 2:10 (*can also be translated "work of art"!)
